NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing and Storage

The Warehousing and Storage NVQ Level 2 is a nationally recognised qualification offered by City & Guilds to accredit skills which can be demonstrated within a real working environment. The qualification covers a range of subjects including health and safety, security, operating equipment, moving and receiving goods, processing orders and assembling and dispatching goods. The NVQ is made up of two mandatory units and six optional units, selected from a choice of 15, which can be achieved in any order.

NVQ Level 3 in Logistics Operations Management
The Level 3 NVQ in Warehousing is aimed at more experienced people working in the industry. Candidates need to complete eight units, three mandatory units and five optional units, chosen to complement their job role. Units cover scheduling logistics operations to meet customer requirements, developing relationships with customers, optimising the use of resources, arranging the transportation of goods and improving the quality of logistics operations.

Apprenticeships in Warehousing and Logistics
Designed for young people new to the industry the apprenticeship includes the achievement of an NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing and Storage, key skills in Communication and Application of Number at Level 1, the City & Guilds Certificate in Warehousing Principles Level 2 and employment rights and responsibilities.

The advanced apprenticeship is aimed at more experienced people who are already employed and have some experience of working in the industry. The advanced apprenticeship includes the NVQ Level 3 in Logistics Operations Management, key skills in Communication and Application of Number at Level 2, the Level 3 Certificate in Logistics and Transport and employment rights and responsibilities.

Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money, all at the same time.  Most apprentices are employed from the start of their programme and are paid a salary that reflects their skills, experience and ability. There is no set time to complete a warehousing apprenticeship but, depending on the apprentice's job role, experience and motivation, the full apprenticeship can be completed in nine to 18 months.
