During the last few years training for sales staff has become essential to the success of retail businesses. Well trained, motivated staff contribute to increased turnover and bigger profits. Retailing has become increasingly competitive and the quality of service provided by staff can make the difference between success or failure of the business.

Qualifications in Retail

Training and assessments take place in the workplace and are carried out by qualified Quest assessors.

The Diploma in Retail Skills Level 2 is aimed at sales assistants and young people new to the industry. The qualification covers a range of areas including sales, stock management, product expertise, merchandising, visual merchandising, finance and administration, customer service and organisational effectiveness.

The Level 3 Retail Diploma is designed specifically for managers and supervisors.  The Diploma offers candidates a choice three pathways to suit their job role:

    -  sales professionals (minimum 40 credits)

    -  management (minimum 43 credits)

    -  visual merchandising (minimum 53 credits)

Apprenticeship in Retail
Apprenticeships are aimed at school and college leavers and lead to the Diploma in Retail Skills Level 2, C&G Level 2 Certificate in Retail Knowledge and key skills.

Work experience opportunities in retail are also needed for young people on Quest's Foundation Learning programme. We are always looking for employers willing to offer a young person the chance to gain experience of a real retail environment and to help them improve their confidence and employment skills.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail
The retail advanced apprenticeship is designed for people who have the potential to become managers or supervisors and leads to the Level 3 Retail Diploma, the C&G Level 3 Certificate in Retail Knowledge and the key skills essential for a successful career in retail.

All young people working towards an NVQ with Quest are offered the opportunity to attend Quest's commercial IT Training and other Short Courses free of charge.
