During the last few years training for sales staff has become essential to the success of retail businesses. Well trained, motivated staff contribute to increased turnover and bigger profits. Retailing has become increasingly competitive and the quality of service provided by staff can make the difference between success or failure of the business.

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in retailing have now become widely recognised and accepted by the retail industry and Quest offers retailers an easy and cost-effective method of training their staff to meet NVQ standards.

NVQs in Retail
Training and assessments for NVQs in retail take place in the workplace and are carried out by qualified Quest assessors.

Retail Skills NVQ Level 2 is aimed at sales advisors, customer service advisors, product experts and young people new to the industry. Areas covered include sales, stock management, product expertise, merchandising, visual merchandising, finance and administration, customer service and organisational effectiveness.

Retail NVQ Level 3 is designed specifically for department, section and team leaders, specialist sales advisors and owners/managers.  The NVQ 3 offers candidates three pathways:

    -  sales professionals

    -  management

    -  visual merchandising

Apprenticeship in Retail
Apprenticeships are aimed at school and college leavers and lead to an NVQ Level 2 in Retail Skills, C&G Level 2 Certificate in Retailing and key skills.

Work experience opportunities in retail are also needed for young people on Quest's E2E programme. We are always looking for employers willing to offer a young person the chance to gain experience of a real retail environment and to help them improve their confidence and employment skills.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail
The retail advanced apprenticeship is designed for young people who have the potential to become managers or supervisors and leads to an NVQ Level 3 in Retail, the C&G Level 3 Certificate in Retailing and the key skills essential for a successful career in retail.

Free IT Training and Short Courses
All young people working towards an NVQ with Quest are offered the opportunity to attend Quest's commercial IT Training and other Short Courses free of charge.
