More and more people are recognising that effective management is a science as well as an art. Quest offers a number of different approaches to improving management skills.

ILM Management NVQs at Levels 3 & 4
The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) has defined the competencies required for effective management. A Quest adviser will guide candidates through the qualification, from choosing the most appropriate level right through to helping them identify evidence from their workplace.

The Award develops the candidates' confidence and ability in implementing improvements, managing teams and individuals and maximising use of time and resources. There are also a number of specialist optional units which can be used to tailor the qualification to the individual's particular requirements.

Certificate in First Line Managemen
t Level 3
The qualification gives practising and potential managers the foundation for their formal development. The programme has two primary objectives:

  • Assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by managers
  • Develop basic management skills ic management skills

The certificate can take between one year and a maximum of three years to achieve.

Goal Certificate in Management Level 3

The Goal Certificate is aimed at middle managers and consists of two units:

  • Self development and leadership
  • Managerial responsibilities

The Certificate is assessed by one hour multi-choice tests.

Advanced/Adult Apprenticeship in Management

Designed for first-line managers and includes the achievement of an NVQ Level 3 in Management, key skills, the Goal Certificate in Management at Level 3.

NVQ Level 2 in Team Leading
This NVQ is designed for team leaders who are primarily concerned with motivating their team members and achieving agreed outputs, with limited authority for deploying resources.

Apprenticeship/Adult Apprenticeship in Team Leading

Designed for team leaders concerned with motivating team members and achieving targets and includes the achievement of an NVQ Level 2 in Team Leading, the Goal Certificate in Team Leading at Level 2, key skills and employment rights and responsibilities.

Short Courses

Quest offers a full range of short courses designed to develop essential management skills. These include:

  • Managing meetings
  • Report writing
  • Presentation skills
  • Time management
  • Effective interviewing
  • Dealing with difficult people

Free IT Training and Short Courses
All young people working towards an NVQ with Quest are offered the opportunity to attend Quest's commercial IT Training and other Short Courses free of charge.
